Thanks to small farmers like Jonathon and Molly at the Odd Bird Farm, we are finding some balance and hope for the future of rare breeds of livestock and poultry. The Meishan pig is critically endangered. Less than 200 purebred births are recorded each year. Luckily we have folks working hard to preserve these rare breeds and ensure they are around for generations to come.
