Pet & Lifestyle Photography, Note Cards, Prints & Wall Art
Welcome to my world as a mid-Missouri hobby farmer. With an assortment of critters right outside my own backdoor, I have combined my love for the country life with that of natural light photography. My work reflects my commitment to sustainable agriculture and the humane treatment of all animals.
As future generations become more and more removed from life on the farm, I hope to make a connection between city and country with my photography. I specialize in pet/farm animal photography of all creatures great and small. I offer my photography on note cards, prints and ready-to-hang wall art.
My work celebrates life on a small farm and the creatures that bring joy to my life. My wish is to share that joy while touching the inner country kid in all of us.

Finally, I'm a published author! Anthology Online Book Launch
Well I finally did it, I'm going to be a published author! This has been a dream for many years, I just never knew how to get started and kept putting obstacles in my way.
Thank you to Cathy and Pam at Davis Creative LLC, I've taken the first step by contributing a chapter to their "Living Well" Anthology, which is a collection of stories from a variety of writers.
I'm excited to announce that I will be part of a live, online interview during the launch on Wednesday June 26th, 2019 which will air 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Meet the authors, win prizes, order a book, be inspired.
This is just the first step for me. I hope there will be many books to come in my future. Let's celebrate my first chapter together...you must register online at the link below to join us for the "Living Well" online book launch! Look for me at the Emerging Artists Tent
www.culturalfestivals.com
The Art Fair Sourcebook has ranked the Saint Louis Art Fair in the top ten art fairs and festivals to visit. In 2014 I was very fortunate to be selected for the Emerging Artists as Entrepreneurs program along with six other talented artists. Last year we rolled up our sleeves and shadowed our mentors, took classes, walked rounds with a judge, helped set up and break down artists booths, attended a mock jury and artist enrichment workshops. This year I will have the opportunity to actually show my work along with my fellow emerging artists under a large tent at the intersection of Forsyth Blvd and S. Meramec Ave. This is a FANTASTIC opportunity for me. I do hope you will be able to come out to this art show which is ranked in the top ten of all shows in the nation!
Emerging ArtistsEmerging Artists as Entrepreneurs (EAEP) presented by Wells Fargo Advisors is a year-round opportunity for collegiate and rising artists to learn about business in the arts.
Through education on copyright laws, financial consulting, and portfolio development in conjunction with experiencing the Art Fair, EAEP aims to fuel creativity and help jumpstart the careers of our nation's next independent artists.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Kim Carr - Photographer
Hybrid Hollow Production
Juried Member: Best of Missouri Hands
Photography by Kim Carr
Pet Photography, Note Cards, Prints & Canvas
Welcome to Hybrid Hollow Production. I am a natural light photographer specializing in "on location" pet photography, farm portraits & special events of a rural-historical
theme. Serving mid-Missouri and surrounding areas. With a passion for animals, the outdoors, farm life and photography, I take great pride in preserving memories to last a lifetime. For my fine art photography I tend to focus on moments that I find to be funny, beautiful, or intriguing.
Although my photos are not complex, I hope anyone, no matter where they may live, will be able to feel a connectedness to
the land and a simpler way. Please enjoy while you share in my daily life. Along with capturing your treasured moments I also enjoy participating in special exhibits, art fairs and having my art work in several shops and galleries from Martha's Vineyard to the Xanadu Art Gallery in Arizona and numerous locations in Missouri.
I am an avid animal lover, especially Donkeys and Mules, hence the name Hybrid Hollow. Having grown up near St. Louis but spending a few summers on my Grandparent's farm, I knew by the age of ten that I would someday have a farm of my own. Around this time, I was also given my first camera, a little Kodak 110.
Somewhere along life’s journey to become a farmer, a passion for photography developed which allows me to capture the little things that give me pause and bring me joy. I would say that my Mom helped create my eye for photography as she had me pay for my own film out of my allowance. I learned very quickly to eye up my subject before snapping any photo's.
With a degree in Animal Science, I have enjoyed the country life as a Hobby Farmer for over twenty years now. I share my little slice of happiness with a small herd of Irish Dexter cattle, a few Katahdin crossed sheep, a couple pygmy goats and Red Bourbon turkeys, not to mention numerous guineas, ducks and countless free range chickens. Of course like any farm, mine wouldn't be complete without my dogs and cats that keep me company as I go about with my farm chores. At last, let's not forget my two donkeys, David Cicero and Clela D. Donkey named after my Grandparents. And finally there is my mule, Davy Crockett who I have proclaimed to be King of the Missouri Mules!
Nearing 25 years in age, Crockett has taken me over many trails all around Missouri and Southern Illinois, allowing me to see some beautiful country. His gentle nature and funny character have created a soft spot in my heart for all long ears. He is my company mascot and keeps me connected to the things I love most about farm life.
My style is very laid back and down to earth. I have two cameras which I shoot with, a digital pocket Fuji XP and a Canon Rebel along with my Apple iPhone. My photography reflects my everyday existence and the simple pleasures that surround it. For anyone who can appreciate the simple life, I try to capture the little things that give pause and bring you joy.
Thank you for visiting.
Education: BS in Animal Science / Photography is self taught.

TEMPEST IN A TEAPOT
Point Pleasant, New Jersey
1225 Bay Ave
Point Pleasant, NJ 08742
732-701-3165
Monday - Saturday 10AM to 5PM Sunday 11AM to 5PM
TUESDAYS BY CHANCE
www.tempestinateapot.net
Tempest in a Teapot is a combination of talents between long time friends and partners, Barbara C. Ryan and Elsa M. Mikus. Friends decided that they too wanted to retire and offered to teach Barbara their techniques for making wind chimes from recycled, vintage silver plate teapots and flatware. Wanting to take her life in a new and creative direction, Barbara eagerly accepted their offer and in September 2001, Tempest in a Teapot was born.
After making (and selling) the first few chimes, it was clear that people were interested. Taken as a look at Americana, glorified junk, or even recycled history, these chimes cross over ethnic and religious boundaries, making them the perfect gift for ANY occasion (especially for the person who has everything). All of the sugars, creamers, teapots and flatware used in the chimes come from local New Jersey/Pennsylvania flea markets and auctions. Barb and Elsa specialize in working directly with clients to create meaningful pieces out of family heirlooms.

We, like many folks, have a great fondness for Polish Pottery borne from our own time living abroad. Started in 2005 as Cat's Meow Framing, we quickly realized we needed to offer products which filled horizontal space as much as art and framing covered vertical space. Polish Pottery was a natural fit, e.g., a product we enjoyed and knew a bit about. Offered here you will find not only the usual Polish Pottery fare, but also many decorative items which may be new to you. Located less than an hour south of Atlanta.

Many of the new books relate to local history. Of all the books at the shop, the Katy Trail Guidebook is the best seller. According to Pat, Buy the Book is the only place in town that sells it.
Buy the Book sells quality books of all sorts. They carry poetry, mythology, philosophy, and history books, as well as fiction. Gardening books are popular on a seasonal basis and there is a good selection of cookbooks. One section is devoted to good quality children's books that are reasonably priced so kids can buy their own. There are German-language books and occasionally books written in Spanish. A rack with new magazines is being expanded, and if people want a particular magazine they can order a single copy. Buy the Book does a lot of on-line ordering.

A NEW YEARS TALE FROM THE FARM - by Kim Carr
Dozens of guest attended the New Years Eve party at the Hybrid Hollow Farm. Party goers where treated to a meal of cracked corn and laying mash. For dessert, black oil sunflower seeds were served to the delight of all. Choice of beverage.....Sparkling Well Water served straight from the TAP in a stunning 50 gallon Rubbermaid container. For the more adventurous, preferring a more robust, full bodied beverage, drinking straight from the pond was allowed.
Despite the fact that no alcoholic beverages were served...several of the guest could be seen waddling as they mingled with other party goers! The partying came to a stop when a fight broke out between LuLu and Keely as the two cows locked horns over LuLu bringing a newborn (Delores) to the party. Keely soon backed down once it was confirmed that this was indeed a family friendly event. Music was provided by the "Guineas" a group known for their vocals. Clela D. Donkey was fearful she would make an ass of herself but David Cicero Jack insisted while the music played, that they take to the barnyard floor and attempt to do the Foxtrot. Guest were amused at the pair as the party raged on till late afternoon.
The Roosters were the first to leave...stating they had to get up early the next morning. The ducks then headed back to their exclusive waterfront property were they often entertain guest from out of town like the Canadians that fly in and out to enjoy the lakeside B&B. All guest made it home safely before the coyotes and owls could crash the party. Wishing everybody a safe, happy, fun filled 2012.

THE GOVERNOR'S MANSION - 2014
I am pleased to announce that I received a special invitation to display my photography at the Governor's Mansion in Jefferson City, Missouri. This privilege is by invitation only. I am one of eight Missouri photographers that will have one piece on display for the next year to year and a half.
Considering the fact that I have a great love for donkey's and mules AND that the mule is our "Official State Animal," It's only natural that I have sent my photo titled, "Matched Pair." I shot this photo of this beautiful team of Percheron Draft Mules, Pat and Jane, in Hermann, MO. I think Pat and Jane will look very grand in this special display.
History of the display:
The Best of Missouri Hands is privileged to have a presence at the Governor’s Mansion since Governor and Mrs. Bob Holden partnered with the Missouri Artisans Association/Best of Missouri Hands to collect and display ornaments created by Missouri artisans. Beginning in 2005, the ornament collection was proudly exhibited in a one-of-a-kind display piece designed by BOMH member Heinrich Leonhard and made by Lou Swacker.
In 2010, the ornament collection was put into storage to make room for a more dynamic exhibition. The Missouri Artisans Association and Missouri Mansion Preservation staff revamped the display to feature selected Best of the Missouri Hands artisans creating works they are producing currently…and chose to feature glass artisans. In 2012, the display was revamped again to feature eight painters from Best of Missouri Hands. Upcoming feature: those working in photography.

SOPHIA IS SEEING STARS - 2014
Very excited to announce that a large canvas of Sophia Smiling was recently purchased by actress, Lauren Sweetser of Winter's Bone fame.
While filming ADDicted in Columbia, MO. Lauren's parents came to town to visit their daughter since she lives in California and they in Arkansas. When Lauren was filming her parents enjoyed walking around Columbia and visiting different shops. Fortunately I had a few of my pieces in a special display consisting of Best of Missouri Hands artists in the PWArchitects Inc. front window. The display hung during the month of April 2014 and my large canvas of Sophia Smiling caught Lauren's dad's eye. He fell in love with the smiling donkey.
After Lauren's dad returned home, she secretly purchased my photo canvas and with the help of her mom, was able to keep things hush, hush until Lauren was able to visit her parents in their Arkansas home.
While still in Columbia, Missouri, Lauren and her mom also visited Poppy where I have my note cards and prints year round. They both have a great fondness for my photography and went home with numerous note cards and prints for other family members.
I'm touched that Lauren's dad got such a kick out of Sophia and very pleased that she chose to give him a gift of my photography.
Thank you to the Sweetser family, the BOMH, the PWA and the gals at Poppy for making this possible.
To learn more about Lauren who played Gail, in Winter's Bone please visit http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3454164/?ref_=nmbio_bio_nm
I just re-watched Winter's Bone and am looking forward to her newest film ADDicted. It will be extra fun to watch knowing what a big heart Lauren has for her family, and that it's shot in Columbia, MO.

Please Don’t Touch
January 14 – February 21, 2014
Please Don’t Touch is a multi-layered show, inviting artists to play on the seductive nature of the tactile and its power to evoke a visceral, sometimes involuntary response in the viewer. At a deeper level, the concept embraces the meaning of fragility, the frailty of the human condition, the natural world and unbreachable taboo.
I submitted just one piece for this juried exhibit....Mouse Trap. This is a very exciting show featuring all mediums. For more information please visit www.columbiaartleague.org

MEMBER'S SUMMER OPEN
June 25 - Aug 23, 2013
Opening Reception: Thursday June 27, 6-8 pm
My piece on exhibit is titled:
Boone County Sale Barn Mule
“There are no lines in nature, only areas of colour, one against another.” Edouard Manet
It had been a rainy spring and everyone was ready for the dog days of summer. There was a yearning for hot, lazy days of homemade lemonade, mint juleps, and the cool bliss of yielding to the temptation of Sparky’s ice cream. Not wanting to cocoon themselves in an over-cooled shopping mall, the visitors decided to explore The District and find a unique memento of their time in Columbia. Resting a moment under the shade of some striped awnings, they discovered a gallery and snuck inside. Here, a cornucopia of art awaited them: lushly painted landscapes, exquisite jewelry, brightly-hued scarves, glass sculptures, hand-made coffee mugs. She fell in love with a painting of shoes. He bought her a steel tulip. They left knowing one thing: this was a city of incredible artistic talent.

Bountiful Boone - Columbia Art League
June 24 – August 22, 2014
Boone County is bountiful-geologically, ecologically and agriculturally. So whether it's art about Boone County, art made in Boone County, or art inspired by Boone County, you'll find it in the show.
My image that I submitted titled, "Face Painter" was taken the beginning of June at the Columbia Art Leagues - Art in the Park, three day show. I thought it very endearing to see this large biker type guy with tattoo's face painting this young girl. It was a wonderful day and fun for everyone.
Just to add a little flavor to the image I added a color mask giving it orange and green tones. The image is for sale $160 and currently hanging at the Columbia Art League.
